ComputerExpert 2009 – An Answer for All Your Computer-related Questions
Review by on
I can only dream of a time when computers will be so efficient, and that software will be so well though out that nothing will go wrong. But until that dreams comes to life, we all have to contend with the harsh reality. A reality in which hardware fails, software refuses to work, and the computer that used to work just fine the other day not just won’t work no matter what you do.

Having computer problems is enough to drive you up the walls. So what do you do when the inevitable happens and you run into a problem? One solution would be to call a friend that knows how to troubleshoot a computer. But call that friend in the middle of the night too many times and he might just put your number on the block list.

You could do what I always do – turn to software for help. In this situation the software that will help you out is called ComputerExpert 2009. Weighing in at close to 3Mb, the download will complete in no time at all even on the lousiest of internet connections. The installation process will go smoothly and swiftly – it took me less than 10 clicks to have the software up and running. On a Windows XP powered machine because you see, the software only provides support for XP.

Once installed on your system, the first time you launch ComputerExpert 2009 you have to create an account. This should not take too long. You need only select a username and a password. You can also provide your real name and additional personal information, but this is optional. You can have the account up and running in no time at all without having to offer many personal details about yourself. Once your account is activated, you can connect to the ComputerExpert 2009 servers. Once connected you can post a question in which you detail your problem. Or you can browse questions posed by other people and the answers they received.

Everything you need to know about using the application is nicely put together in the first screen you see when you access ComputerExpert 2009.

Pros
  • Freeware
  • Nice interface

Cons
  • We had a few failed attempts before we could connect to the server
  • You depend on others to answer your questions. Sometimes an answer may never be provided.
  • Support only for XP
